    The creature wanted the girls necklace in exchange for all of the straw in the room to be turned into gold. The ending was revised in a edition to a more gruesome ending wherein Rumpelstiltskin "in his rage drove his right foot so far into the ground that it sank in up to his waist; then in a passion he seized the left foot with both hands and tore himself in two". Rumpelstiltskin changes his contract with the Miller's Daughter on two separate occasions, the first being when he agrees to teach her to spin straw into gold and the second being when he changes the deal so that, instead of owing him her first-born child, she owes him their child. When the messenger returned on the third day he told the queen that he had wandered the forest and come across a strange little man dancing and prancing around a large fire.

Each student should create a headline and draw a picture for their article. The poor miller's daughter sat there, and for the life of her she didn't know what to do; she had no idea how you could spin straw into gold, and she grew more and more afraid, so that in the end she began to cry.

When Shrek is brought to the castle, he demands that Rumpel explain what he has done. Paul O.
